Silvia Hubenova, president of Partners Bulgaria Foundation-Asenovgrad, was elected to the Asenovgrad municipal council in local elections in October 2007. On January 7, she was officially appointed to the position of Deputy Mayor for European Issues. Ms. Hubenova is one of the most proactive and committed NGO leaders with whom USAID worked on the local level.

The Business Foundation for Education launched a new software tool that will assist career counselors to give students better information about their interests and aptitudes and to help them make the right educational choices.

USAID financed recycled calendar for 2008.
USAID is embarking on several environmental initiatives to celebrate the Mission’s closure in 2008. Planting of a new “forest” in South Park near the Hilton Hotel will be marked with an event in the spring. USAID also funded the design and production of a 2008 calendar made from 100% recycled paper with creative green graphics and thought-provoking tips on easy ways to live a greener lifestyle.
