Children at special risk for exploitation learned about ways to protect themselves.
The Chamber of Investigators of Bulgaria and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) regional centers in the city of Bourgas and Sliven conducted two lessons with at-risk children from special assistance schools and community support centers. These activities are part of the project “Investigators against Trafficking in Human Beings”, financed by USAID and IOM. The investigators spoke to children aged between 14 and 17 about the risks of exploitation and trafficking. The regional representatives of IOM and the investigators explained to the children whom they can seek help from when needed. The environment of safety and mutual trust enabled the children to talk about their personal experiences, and the investigators revealed real cases from their practice.
The children were convinced how important it is to question tempting offers, to listen to warnings from close friends and family, and to seek help and assistance.
