USAID is embarking on several environmental initiatives to celebrate the Mission’s closure in 2008. Planting of a new “forest” in South Park near the Hilton Hotel will be marked with an event in the spring. USAID also funded the design and production of a 2008 calendar made from 100% recycled paper with creative green graphics and thought-provoking tips on easy ways to live a greener lifestyle.

The NGO Gorichka will be selling the calendars in major bookstores in Sofia. They can also be purchased by contacting info@gorichka.bg. Proceeds from calendar sales will fund planting trees in Vitosha National Park.
